Did you know there is an app for Facebook Ads that you can use on your phone? I almost never use it. Here are the 3 main reasons why not:
1. It doesn’t always show you the information that really matters. Because the screen is so small, Facebook knows they can’t show you everything. So they pick a few “high level” metrics to show you in the app. Sometimes the metrics they pick are helpful. Other times there are not. If you’re new to ads, you’re not going to know the difference.
2. It’s extra hard to navigate: If those top level numbers AREN’T helpful, and you try to go find the ones that do matter to you, it’s tricky! Ads Manager is a very complex platform. When you’re a beginner, you’re already not sure exactly what you’re looking at in ads manager. There are So. Many. Numbers. The app makes it even harder to figure out because it gives you a super micro view so there’s even less context to know what you’re looking at.
3. It’s easy to accidentally change a campaign. I’ve accidentally tapped campaigns on and off without realizing it because the screen is small and there are so many things to tap on! It’s happened to my clients too!
Here’s my tip for today: When you are just learning ads, don’t rely on the app. Go into ads manager on the desktop. Then, once you are more comfortable in ads manager and understand the metrics that matter, start to explore the app a little more. The app is not a great tool to learn with. It’s not great for building and editing campaigns. But once you understand what you’re looking at, it’s good for a quick numbers check in.
Do you agree? Let me know if you love the app! There could be something I’m missing!
