Here are my AI Headshots. I submitted 25 pictures of me. And then I got back 300 headshots that were supposed to look like me. About 125 of them actually did. They were actually amazing. My daughter took screenshots of some of the worst ones because they made her laugh so hard. Let’s just say that AI is great with a lot of things, but it hasn’t quite mastered human teeth. I shared some of the best and worst pictures below. I think soon we’ll be able to use AI for crafting Facebook images and videos. I think it will actually be helpful. And were the headshots I got good enough for ads? I say 100% yes. But the truth is I don’t need 125 headshots. I probably don’t even need 15. But it’s fun to have some variety.
I would use any of the ones that really look like me for ads. There are few problems though.
1. Some Facebook ads work with headshots. But most of my clients also have some full-body shots as well.
2. You’ve heard me say this before, but it gets more true every day: Video is taking over. My most successful clients are using video in all of their ads. And more often than not, video performs better. We don’t need AI headshots for ads nearly as much as we need AI video. But I know that is coming. (And actually it’s already here.)
3. The authenticity line is blurry. When I got my 300 headshots back, the first 50 or so were amazing. It was like I was having my best hair day for every single shot. And they looked JUST like me. The last 100 were laughably wrong. They were obviously not me or had errors. It was those middle ones though that left me with a weird feeling. Some of them mostly looked like me, but better. Slightly better teeth. A little thinner. A smile that was just a touch more…something. It was with those middle ones that I started to feel like I’d be lying if I posted them as me but I could have gotten away with it. Ethical implications for sure.
This first one is the one I submitted as the primary image. I also submitted 25 other images.
These are all AI Generated. I think they mostly look like me. There are another 120 along these same lines.
These are the ones that I thought really didn’t look like me at all. There are another 150 ish like these. These are the most dramatic. Some of them looked more like me.
Upon further inspection, the last one of this group for sure belongs in the “Errors” section.😂 Do you see it? That arm!! 😂
Then there are another 100 or so with errors. Too many teeth. Weird teeth. Extra lips. Contorted faces. These are the ones that made my daughter die with laughter. Zoom in. 🙈😂
Overall, I’m happy with the results. I only paid $40, which is far less than I paid for my last photoshoot. But I’m not ready to give up my real-life photographer. She sees things that AI can’t. And she’ll never give me extra ugly teeth. 😂
